Well we have only gone and done it; we are now the proud owners of “Eric” a T6 VW Campervan. Huge thanks to everyone at Hillside Leisure nothing has been too much trouble and the aftersales service spot on. We are all so excited and can’t wait to get this adventure underway.
Being lucky enough to live on the outskirts of the beautiful Peak District National Park in Derbyshire we felt there was no better place to spend our first night away than at Chatsworth Park Caravan Club Site.
Its early January but the skies are clear and the sun is shining it’s not real warm so a little hesitant on what to pack, the last thing I want is to be cold but really excited and looking forward to getting on the campsite. So many things running through my mind and I am just hoping I can remember everything, how to unfold the beds? how to set timers for the heater? hmmm how did we get that hot water again?
Well it’s the moment of truth and so far, so good, we remembered quite a lot and managed to get ourselves set up and comfortable in no time. This is the life, no more wrestling with tents and falling out before the holiday has even properly started 😊. We have gone for a retractable awning that also has the ability to attach a drive away awning to, definitely the right choice for us and so easy to set up.
Pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the beds were in the campervan, we had chosen to sleep in the pop-up roof bed although I am not great in close spaces so next time will opt to sleep on the fold out bed. It certainly wasn’t cold if anything a bit to warm, the heater is brilliant and has the camper van warm and toasty in no time.
Cooking was easy and a full English Breakfast was cooked to perfection by Darren, one learning point is open a few windows while cooking the smoke alarm scared the life out of me.
Overall a great night away in the campervan and can’t wait to do it again, even Dougie the family furry human loved it.
