With Spring around the corner and hope in the air that we are at long last coming towards the end of the restrictions that have been imposed on us over the last 12 months or so, there is optimism that we can begin to book our holidays with confidence.
At Great Escape Campers we endeavour to make sure your holiday is easy to plan and relaxing once it starts and that’s why we hope that blogs and information like this will assist you in your adventure.
Freddie, our VW Campervan is equipped with almost everything you need. You can cook some wonderful meals (check out our recipe blogs), you can get a good night’s sleep thanks to our Vango California mattress www.vango.co.uk/gb/sleeping/421-california-mattress and stay nice and warm with our Eberspacher diesel heater.
We cannot however supply you with a shower or a toilet so remember when booking your site you make sure that these facilities are available to use.
Two of the biggest organisations associated with camping and Campervan holidays are the Caravan and Motorhome Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club and they have recently put out the following advice.
The Caravan & Motorhome Club have issued the below guidance and key dates when sites will begin to open up.
England – we’re currently planning to reopen all our Club campsites in England for stays from 12 April 2021.
Scotland – our Club campsites in Scotland will remain closed up to and including 4 April 2021. We are awaiting further information from the Scottish Government regarding the period 5-25 April 2021 and no new bookings are being accepted during these dates; however, bookings can be made for stays from 26 April 2021. If you have a booking already between 5-25 April there’s no need to cancel it at this stage, we’ll let you know what to do once we have further guidance from the Scottish Government.
Wales – we’re currently planning to reopen all our Club campsites in Wales for stays from 29 March 2021.
While all reopening dates are subject to strict Government conditions being met, this is long-awaited good news and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you back onto our COVID secure campsites.
We are still awaiting further clarification on the use of communal areas and shared facilities (including toilet blocks and showers) and will publish an update on our website as soon as possible.
We have contacted those members with affected bookings, and we will shortly be communicating separately with any seasonal or storage pitch holders who are affected. Any further updates will be published on our website https://www.caravanclub.co.uk
The Camping and Caravanning Club www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/helpandadvice/travelplanning/coronavirus are also issuing similar guidance
“With the latest Coronavirus restrictions all our Club Sites in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are closed. Any opening dates for these sites will be reviewed in-line with latest guidance. We are planning to open our full site network as soon as we are able and are currently working towards the following:
England: Our earliest opening date will be the 12th of April. We are currently clarifying guidance, but it is likely that as part of this opening phase we will not be able to open facility blocks. Campers will need to have their own self-contained toilet facilities, until the 17th of May at the earliest.
Scotland: Our earliest opening date will be the 26th of April, and we are awaiting confirmation of this date. There is likely to be further level 3 restrictions in place after this date and the next review is due on the 15th March.
Wales: The earliest opening date will be the 1st April, and we are awaiting confirmation of this date.
Northern Ireland: Restrictions have been extended until 1st of April and we are awaiting further details, which are due to be announced on the 18th of March.
Please note, all dates are still subject to official confirmation”.
